- Read it through without a pencil/pen in hand
- Read it again, and do the following:
- Underline especially visual and vivid descriptions
- Put a big STAR by one area that could benefit from more details. What might your partner do in this section??
- What is the HOOK the author used to get the reader's attention? If there isn't one, suggest on (AQQS).
- Do you have a clear sense of the progress and sequence of events? (Number the events in the incident). If yes, why? If not, explain why not.
- At the bottom of the essay, explain what happened (the incident) and why the writer is changed (reflection).
Closing:
6. Once you have worked through these steps, you are ready to create a FINAL DRAFT that is ready for a final edit.
