By Tuesday - Chapters 5-6 - Two Entries
By Wednesday - Chapters 7-10 - Two Entries
By Thursday - Chapters 11-12 - Two Entries

Opening:
1. Grades - Make sure there are no errors.

Bathroom Passes

2. UIL Sign-Ups

3. First Friday Parking - This Friday

4. April 19 - Fiesta Parking, Open Mic, 8th Grade Tribute Night

5. Tomorrow and Wednesday your ELA work will be done with other teachers, but we won't lose speed.


Work Period:6. While I check your sticky notes, Log-in to SpringBoard Digital with your Partner from last week (2.4 Beginning the Journey)
  • Use the same account for 2.4, if possible.

7. Class Notebook: Double Entry Journal

  • Use Your Notebook  - Fold the Page to the Red Line, then FOLD in another 1/2 inch
  • Add your Sticky Notes to the Right Hand Side.
  • Copy the passage you selected into the Left, along with the page #
    • Discuss with your Seat Partner what you chose and why.

By Tuesday - Chapters 5-6 - Two Entries
By Wednesday - Chapters 7-10 - Two Entries
By Thursday - Chapters 11-12 - Two Entries

8. Skip 5 pages.
  • CN Entry: 3/28: "Character Traits" 
    • Write down as many character traits as possible - 3 minutes
    • In a group of 4: Blank page - folded into four equal squares.
      • Write each group member's name in a space
      • Write a trait, then pass it, write a trait, then pass it, see how many times the page can go around - 4 minutes.
    • Add to your list of traits based on what your group created.
9. SpringBoard Digital 2.5 (Write your names on a sticky)
  • #1: Write down all the characters we've encountered in the novel's first four chapters.
    • Add details you recall or from your Double Entry Journal that inform you about this character.  Include traits based on the four strategies for characterization (#1).

10. Tonight:
Class Notebook: Sal and Phoebe Analysis
  • Recreate the Graphic Organizer you see for #2
  • Complete a detailed analysis of both characters.  Use Chapters 1-4 to complete the analysis.
    • Quote the Text!  Include traits (Inference!)
