  • Take time to copy down a poem onto a loose-leaf paper for tomorrow night.
    • Rehearse!


Collect Notebooks at the end of class

Opening:
1. Class Notebook: 4/18: Review of Literary Terms

Summarize the following terms: 
A. Setting

B. Plot

C. Character

Be sure to define each term AND explain how each term is important to a novel or short story.


2. Create new Groups of 3: See Busse's List


3. Share your definitions with new partners, then aloud with the whole class.


Work Period:

4. Create a FOUR column graphic organizer:

Take notes on each clip, and especially how each develops over the course of the film clips.

  • We'll stop in between each clip to share notes.



5. Summary: After we've seen all three clips, write a summary of your literary element throughout the three clips.

6. Share your summary in your small group and be sure you have all of your notes complete in your graphic organizer.

  • Connect literary elements in UP! to the themes we've brainstormed.
    • How did the film makers develop a theme using literary elements?  How did one or more contribute to your understand of ONE theme?
