Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize the elements of conflict and resolution
Opening:
1. Share your monologues in your small groups (HW Stamp).
  • Was the writer successful in creating the voice of the toy?
  • Did the monologue express the toy's attitude toward Change?
2. Preview Activity 2.3
  • Examine the list of events on page 77 and CHECK any events that have occurred in the past 3 years.
3. Read through the bottom of page 77.

4. Explore the concept of CHANGE in your class journal:
  • Internal and External Conflict.
    • Double-Bubble (Examine the differences and similarities between "Internal Conflict" and "External Conflict")
    • Bridge Map (Examine analogies related to both terms.  "Internal Conflict is to ____________ as External Conflict is to _____________."

Work Period:
5. Review and respond to the quickwrite questions at the top of page 78

6. When you are done, ask for a piece of construction paper so that you can begin the assignment at the bottom of page 78.
  • A graphic can be many things:
    • Illustration
    • Thinking Map
    • Storyboard
    • Comic Strip

Closing:
7. This "divider" you are creating is due Wednesday - and will go into your folder to help keep Unit 2 work organized.
