1. Review in your groups:
- The Lion King Narrative Structure Diagram on page 88
- your ideas for the Narrative Structure of one of the Shakespearean Plots on page 89.
2. Which ideas for Narrative Structures are you most proud of??

3. Complete the Quickwrite on page 90
4. Write down the definition of each and a few examples:
- adjective (90) soft, kind, loving, mournful, creepy, bewildering, aloof, amazed...
- adverb (91) softly, kindly, lovingly, mournfully, creepily, bewilderingly, adventurously...
5. Preview "The Southpaw"
- What is does Letter Format mean?
- Who are the two characters? How do you know?
- Read the first two letters aloud...what is the conflict between the two characters?
- Write the conflict in the "My Notes" section next to the first two letters.
6. Read the remainder of the poem silently to yourself.
- When you are done, come get a card from me.

7. Rotate through the literacy centers as assigned, following the directions as well as you can. Take your time at each and really understand what is being asked.
