Opening:
1. Review expectations
  • Reader's Notebooks (Find October Entries)
    • Label the beginning of the 2nd Nine Weeks
      • You should have 6-9 October Entries
      • Mark the Beginning of the 2nd Nine Weeks*
    • 2-3 entries using stems EVERY WEEK
    • Independent Reading Log: Should contain a SAMPLE..
      • Take one entry and extend your thinking.  Be reflective and responsive.
  • Class Notebook/Journal (Find Last Entry From 1st Nine Weeks)
    • Label the beginning of the 2nd Nine Weeks
  • Immediate Grade for having TWO notebooks marked and ready to go for 2nd Nine Weeks.
  • Grades for 2nd Nine Weeks: Averaging the Semester Grade
  • SLANT
2. Review the details about the character you created on Friday.

3. With a randomly chosen partner, share your descriptions and pictures.  
  • #3: List information about the "other" character (your partner's character) on 125

Work Period:

4. Consider possible settings with your partner.
  • #4: Brainstorm a list of locations where these two characters might randomly encounter one another
5. Together, choose a location and describe the setting (Time and Place) using sensory details
  • Write details for #5
6. Discuss a possible CONFLICT that would arise between the two characters.  Or, describe a conflict that would bring these two character together in some way.
  • Take notes for #6 on page 126 - work together to sort through the Narrative Structure Diagram on page 126.  
Closing:

7.  Discuss with your partner the direction of the narrative you have been considering:
  • What might the two characters say to each other?  
    • Role-Play: Try out different conflicts
    • Role-Play: Feel Free to stop and start over
