Opening:
1. Voluntary vs. Involuntary
- Did you fill in the graphic organizer with voluntary and involuntary changes you have made?
2. Did you complete the quickwrite on a piece of notebook paper - the side after the SMART goal?
Work Period:
3. Introduce "Looping." See the model on page 198.
4. What is required for looping?

- SOMETHING to say using sensory details, feelings, thoughts and ideas.
- Label your quickwrite "A"Underline a sentence in your quick write that could be elaborated.
- Just below you quickwrite (Label it "B", write 2-3 more sentences elaborating upon the underline sentence.
- Underline a sentence in B. Then loop again (Label it "C", just below B.)
6. Together, let's read through the information about Parallel Structure on page 199.
- After reading through and understanding the information, try completing #1 on 199.
7. In one of your loops, find a sentence or two about the same subject.
- Create ONE sentence, using parallel structure that is based on a few sentences from one of your LOOPS
- Ask for a sentence strip when you have one! (Use a marker)

8. Reflect: In your class notebook, write a reflection.
- Explain how looping and using parallel structure improve writing? Consider: How do they make your voice stronger and more mature?
